Hypnosis for Bad Habits
Habits are simple actions we repeat over time, sometimes without even realising we are doing it. All habits are created through a 3 part psychological process, sometimes referred to as a habit loop, and consist of a cue or trigger, the behaviour of the habit and lastly the reward. All habits are formed in this way - but not all habits are bad.

As humans go, we have a tenancy to be ‘creatures of habit’ and there is a very good reason for this. Cast your mind back to a point where you learnt something that took quite some time, like driving a car. At first, the task takes a lot of concentration, but the more you do it, the more conformable you become and generally the task becomes easier and easier, to the point where the behaviour becomes automatic, you could say almost 'habitual'. This is great for most of our habits like driving a car because it means we are not using as much mental energy to perform the task and we can focus on other things. If you have a habit you want to break, this automation can make it harder because with any habit, good or bad, the decision making process connected to that behaviour goes into 'sleep mode', making it more difficult to break the habit.
The good news is bad habits can be broken, using hypnotherapy for bad habits I can help you let go of your unwanted habit. Everyone is different, some habits we have extend from our childhood, like nail biting, others we develop through our everyday lives, like that extra glass of wine. Habits come in all forms and some examples are:
- Nail biting (Onychophagia)
- Hair chewing
- Hair pulling (Trichotillomania)
- Look for the underlying root cause of your unwanted habit and resolve it. Once these have been identified and resolved, unwanted habits can surprisingly disappear quite quickly.
- Develop greater awareness of your habit, so enabling you to let go of the habit
- I’ll give you tools for you to use in between sessions
- Work towards a vision of your life free from your habit
“I would like to say a HUGE thank you for everything over the last few months, I never thought I'd see the day when I wasn't skin picking and now it's not an issue at all. I also now feel much more confident and able to face my fears. Many thanks once again”
